As a woman who has probably spent around one third of her adult life hanging out in laundromats (I didn’t have a washer/dryer until I moved into this condo), I feel qualified to say that this is by far the schmexy-est laundromat of them all.

First, you don’t have worry about running out of quarters, or about somebody stealing your cat t-shirts and stretchy pants out of the dryer, or about that creepy dude lurking in the corner who you suspect intends to flash you. None of those are issues at this facility. In fact, the odds of that man using to touch up your eye makeup are far greater than the odds of him exposing his manly bits.

This collection is so much a lot more fun than washing and folding clothes.

It’s a pretty substantial one, too, with four steamy lipsticks (one word: BRIGHTS), four glosses, a couple of blushes, two nail polishes and a bad-@ss highlighting powder (stay tuned for that review) — oh, and bronzers, of course, because it’s not a legit MAC summer launch without a guest appearance by refined Golden, obvs.

For eyes, there are a enormous number of brow products, a few liners, a waterproof mascara and three eyeshadow trios, which leads me to this…

I’m wearing permanent Press, one of the $27.50 Veluxe Pearlfusion shadow Trios from the collection, in this toasty brown, smokey cat eye today, and I had absolutely no trouble blending it, thanks to the silky — nearly creamy — Veluxe Pearlfusion formula. It’s incredibly lightweight, so melding the colors into each other doesn’t require a lot of effort with a blending brush.

You can wear them dry, like I’ve done here, for a dreamy metallic shine, or apply them with a wet brush for a lot more of a goddess-emerging-from-the-surf (or the laundry soap suds, in this case) foil-like shine. Either way, they last from 7-8 hours on my combination lids when applied atop primer.

Permanent Press: When it pertains to everyday eye makeup, I gravitate toward neutrals a lot of the time, so this trio of beige, neutral brownish bronze and black infused with golden pearl sits at the top of my laundry list.

It’s just so flexible! You can smoke it out for an intense look, or do a quick wash of color on your lids with it if you’re in a hurry (10-minute makeup, yo!). Or, do something sort of in the middle, like a smokey cat eye. I think this trio is the most workable of the three in terms of color temp, and the skin tones that could rock it, because of how neutral its neutrals are.

They’re pretty darned neutral. Not too warm, nor cool, so it must work well for a lot of everyone.

Warm Wash: The copper in the center of this trio is so sparkly that I make grabby hands whenever I see it. too bad its just SO chunky. I think a fingertip or a brush saturated with MAC fix + might be the best tools to use for this one, and I’d steer clear of fluffy brushes, because they’re liable to throw warm wash powder particles all over the place.

Green Clean: Dat khaki tho!!! wet or dry, it’s the business. There’s an undercurrent of gold in it that really makes it pop on a tan.

Ooh! — you know what would be pretty? Doing either the light pale green, or the lime green, lightly buffed on the lids with khaki cat eye liner.

Note to self: make that happen, ASAP.

One last thing — if you like to apply your foundation first, I suggest holding a tissue under your lash line when you apply and blend these Veluxe Pearlfusions to catch any wayward falling shadow, because I normally experience a little fallout with them, especially the darker färger.

Jag kommer att gå längs, doop-da-doo, glad som en lark med en clam, tills den är ute av ingenstans – boom! – Jag ska se en kommersiell om adoptabel kattungar eller läsa en sorglig historia på Facebook, och precis som det börjar jag gråta.

Därför behovet av vattentät mascara som haute & stygg vattentät lash.

Liksom den andra dagen tänkte jag på första gången jag träffade flikar (det var ungefär åtta år sedan) när det hände mig att han inte kommer att vara runt för alltid …

Jag brister i tårar! Min baby katt blir äldre.

Vattentät lash är Macs mest nuvarande tillägg till sin Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara-linje, och det är tillgängligt i en enda nyans, en djup glansig svart kallad stötsäker.

Liksom Macs andra Haute & Naughty Line Mascaras, beroende på hur du vrider av locket, kan du ladda borsten på ett av två sätt, med antingen mycket mer (i det här fallet vrid det från den glittrande sektionen) eller mindre ( vridning av det från den mörkblå delen). I gotta say — I’m lovin’ the long length and flexible felt tip on these pens. I think they’re way easier to work with than regular MAC liquid liners with their stiffer, shorter tips.

Methinks these are better for drawing thin, precise lines with smooth edges.

These last at least eight hours for me, too, which is good, without transferring into my crease.

But they aren’t 100% without-a-doubt completely budge-proof. I have noticed that when I’m wearing them and I rub my eyes (like when Tabs has me running ragged and I’m dog tired), I can see little bits of liner lift.

So, remember to keep those paws away off your eyes!

With the whole gestational diabetes thing, I’m on a pretty strict meal plan until baby girl arrives in March. I gotta eat six times a day, which sounds like it could be very cool, but it’s sooo not, on account of how thoroughly I have to monitor my carbs and sugar.

The Bon Bons palette has been out about a month (note: it doesn’t actually come with the chocolate bar I’m holding here), and I played it pretty safe with this look because I didn’t want to review the top. I blended the matte beige shade, Divinity, all over my lids, then swept the matte brown shade called Mocha into my crease before taking it along my lower lash lines.

I really like how easily the shadows blend together; it’s very easy to get them to gradient.

Yes, I just used gradient as a verb… because I can’t have chocolate, I’m making up new guidelines to the English language, and YOU ought to just let ME DO WHAT I want TO PLEASE because I CAN’T have CHOCOLATE.

Seriously, getting the colors to transition into one another is easy-peasy, and the shadows don’t look heavy on my skin.

My most significant refrain about this palette, and it doesn’t rise to the level of a complaint, is that the powders seem to have much more “fluff” than typical for too faced shadows. I have to tap a little much more than typical to unload the excess product from my brushes if I want to avoid fallout.

The glitter on my lids, by the way, was completely unplanned and spontaneous. I was cleaning out a drawer and found a jar of MAC 3D glitter in 3D Brass Gold. I thought, what the hey! might as well have fun, but I’m not sure how I feel about the way it turned out. There’s glitter, so YAY! — but I think it looks a little too yellow for me.

It is possible to cry over a piece of grapefruit…

One of the things I’ve had to get used to lately is not having fruit with my breakfast, which, if it weren’t for the gestational diabetes, I would typically do. From what I’ve heard from the docs, the perinatal services people and my friend Jen (she also had gestational diabetes when she was pregnant), eating fruit in the morning is a GD no-no, and this has broken my heart a little…maybe even much more than not being able to eat copious amounts of chocolate.

I mean, I can still eat fruit, but only in small amounts, and only in the afternoon.

I honestly didn’t think I’d miss fruit this much, but I do, and I really miss not being able to have a half a cold grapefruit first thing in the morning.

Anywho, I’m adjusting. in some cases now I’ll have half a grapefruit for my afternoon snack; when I did that the other day, I actually cried tears of joy.

Fact: checking your blood sugar four times a day will not cure you of your worry of needles
